The Extra

The Extra

$5.99

Books and films have skewered Hollywood’s excesses, but none has ever portrayed one man’s crazy vision of the future of big action/adventure films as The Extra does. This is the story of the ultimate, so-insane-it-could-only-happen-in-Hollywood formula for success, a brave new way to bring the ultimate in excitement to the silver screen. Producer Val Margolian has found the motherlode of box-office gold with his new “live-death” films whose villains are extremely sophisticated, electronically controlled mechanical monsters. To give these live-action disaster films greater realism, he employs huge casts of extras, in addition to the stars. The large number of extras is important, because very few of them will survive the shoot. It’s all perfectly legal, with training for the extras and long, detailed contracts indemnifying the film company against liability for the extras’ injury or death. But why would anyone be crazy enough to risk his or her life to be an extra in such a potentially deadly situation? The extras do it because if they survive they’ll be paid handsomely, and they can make even more if they destroy any of the animatronic monsters trying to stomp, chew, fry, or otherwise kill them. If they earn enough, they can move out of the Zoo – the vast slum that most of L.A. has become. They’re fighting for a chance at a reasonable life. But first, they have to survive . . .

Everybody Wants Your Money: The Straight-Talking Guide To Protecting (And Growing) The Wealth You Worked So Hard To Earn

$20.09

A street-smart guide by a trusted expert that exposes how we make shocking money mistakes often involving the people we trust the most and explains how we can prevent or undo those missteps. In Everybody Wants Your Money David W. Latko uses straight talk a sense of humor and vivid human stories from the trenches of real life to illuminate the potentially catastrophic fiscal missteps that Americans make in the course of their lives. He shows readers a sensible path to success and financial security carefully documented with solid facts. As Latko emphasizes throughout the book most of the money-related lessons we have been taught since childhood simply are wrong. Attempting to apply such misinformation to our personal financial practices virtually ensures failure. We fall into these money traps by trusting our family our adult children our financial advisors neighbors or friends. Most of these people mean us no conscious harm but are in the grips of the same misguided conventional wisdom that leads people into money minefields that cost us BIG. Latko advises readers on the common errors people make in selecting and entrusting a financial advisor and explains how to make an informed choice where you stay in control. He brings to light the mistakes many retirees make in giving their adult children the keys to their financial kingdom -and offers innovative low-risk strategies for protecting and passing on our lifetimes wealth. Latko challenges the conventional wisdom of divorce settlements asserting that the so-called equal division of assets is almost always a travesty to the women involved. Using real-life case histories Latko shows precisely how most divorce settlements are structured to trap the ex-spouse in a downward spiral of poverty.

 +6 Bag O' Munchkin Babes

+6 Bag O’ Munchkin Babes

$4.19

Extra bonus — free Munchkins! — now in the sex of your choice! These six Munchkin pawns are the female version of those found in Munchkin Quest… the four colors found in the initial set plus the Purple and Orange that you’ll see in the first expansion. The obvious thing to do is to keep the Munchkin pawns around for the day one is lost or throw the Munchkin Babes into your Munchkin Quest box and use the correct pawn for whatever sex your character happens to be at that moment. But if you’re truly evil and your friends let you get away with it you’ll show the world just what a munchkin you really are by using these pawns in other games. In Munchkin: Any time you are entitled to go up a level — or when you do something that WOULD earn you a level if you weren’t already Level 9 — you may instead place a munchkin pawn in front of you. In any combat you may discard it for a 1d6 bonus. You may only have one in front of you at a time. Unless of course you lose these rules and tell the other players that you’re allowed to have more. Six is a good number. In Other Games: Because you’re a munchkin you may claim a munchkin advantage for using these pawns in ANY game. For instance: In any roll-and-move game if you use the munchkin as your pawn rather than one that came with the game then once per game you may add or subtract 1 space to the move you roll. In any game in which you start with money if you use the munchkin as your pawn you start with 10 extra. Round up of course. In chess a munchkin pawn can move forward two spaces at any time.

According to a study by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, people starting their working careers will face the following situation when they retire at age 65: they will have annual incomes between $4,000.00 and $26,000.00. According to the Social Security Administration, today’s retirees can only count on corporate pensions and Social Security for 61 percent of their income at retirement. The remainder must come from other sources. If the same holds true in the future, today’s workers need to accumulate enough in personal savings to make up a 39 percent shortfall in their retirement income. The solution for many after they have played enough golf and caught enough fish will be to start a small part-time business. Detailed in this new book are over 100 business ideas that can be started for very little money and yet may provide retired people with a lot more money than they would earn being paid by the hour. This is a collection of businesses selected especially for retirees who are interested in augmenting their income. These businesses can be started with minimum training and investment and are all capable of producing extra income. Most can easily be operated by one person and eventually be sold for an additional profit. Many of these businesses can actually be started with less than one hundred dollars and some can really be started with next to nothing. Some can even be operated from home. Starting and managing a business takes motivation and talent. It also takes research and planning. This new book is intended to serve as a roadmap for starting your business. It is both comprehensive and easy to use. It also includes numerous Web links for additional information. While providing detailed instruction and examples, the author leads you in developing a winning business plan, setting up the structure of the business and accounting and bookkeeping procedures, tending to legal concerns, devising sales and marketing techniques, calculating
